Goshen
Turkey Trot
Frequently
Asked Questions
When does pre-registration close?
If your application and race fee are
received at P.O. Box 220, Goshen, CT 06756 - or otherwise
physically delivered to Goshen Wine & Spirits at 61 Sharon
Tpke., Goshen, CT - by noon on the Tuesday preceding
Thanksgiving (e.g. Tuesday, 11/25/2008), then your
pre-registration application will be accepted.
Don't procrastinate! Remember,
the earlier you register, the better your chances of
receiving your desired T-shirt preference.
Can I register on race morning?
Yes. Race day registration opens
at 8:30 a.m. and is open until 9:45 a.m. The race day
registration fee is $20 (vs. $15 pre-registration), and we
cannot guarantee at T-shirt.
For race day registrants, please plan
to arrive early to allow time to fill out paperwork.
(Earlier the better anyway, so that you can hork down a
doughnut by the bonfire and stretch, right?)
Can I register online?
No. To pre-register, you can
download the application online (here),
print it, fill it out by hand, and return it to the Goshen
Running Club with the application fee (as specified on the
application).
What is the course like?
The course is 10 km or 6.2 miles.
A terrific way to earn a robust Thanksgiving dinner, the
Goshen Turkey Trot course is characterized by a combination
of dirt roads and pavement, and meanders over hilly terrain
from the Goshen Fairgrounds to a loop through the woods at Camp Cochipianee and back. Race day weather can vary from
bright sun to several inches of snow - and everything in
between. All told, this is certainly one of the more
challenging courses in Connecticut, so be prepared...
and then congratulate yourself for a job well done!
Can I bring my dog on the course?
Dogs must be leashed, and owners must
be responsible. Please be
considerate of other participants, but yes, feel free to
bring along your four legged friends.
Are baby strollers allowed?
Yes. The course consists of a
combination of dirt roads and pavement, so we recommend the
use of strollers that have been specifically designed for
jogging, with large wheels, etc.
Can I ride my bike?
Bikes must stay well clear of the
starting line and the finishing chute. And bikes must
give runners and walkers the right of way and a clear buffer
of safety. If you plan to ride your bike, please be
cautious and respectful of pedestrian participants.
